ONLINE ABSENCE FORM

The  Education (Welfare) Act, 2000 requires parents to inform the school if their children will be absent from school on a school day and the reason for the absence.

The Act also requires schools to report on school attendance. Schools are required to inform the Child and Family Agency's educational welfare services if a child is absent for more than 20 days in a school year.

To facilitate this we now accept the completion of this online form or a written note to your child's class teacher. Please note the school may follow up and check absences as they deem necessary.

The National Education Welfare Board (NEWB) are the government body assigned to ensure that children are attending school and their welfare is being met. Schools take the attendance each day and when a child is absent, a school must state the reason to the NEWB. The reason for this absence must come in writing from the family. To facilitate this we now accept the completion of this online form or a written note to your child's class teacher.
Please note the school may follow up and check absences as they deem necessary.
